The short version
- Learn Bisaya Fast teaches spoken Bisaya phrases for everyday life. It's for your own learning.
- Pro is a subscription billed by Apple or Google. It renews until you cancel it in your store account.
- Language is messy, and Bisaya differs from place to place. If a phrase sounds off, report it from the phrase and a native speaker will look at it.
These terms
By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies too. Where the two disagree, Apple's agreement wins for the App Store version. If you got it from Google Play, Google Play's terms cover your download and any purchase.
Using the app
We give you a personal licence to use the app for your own learning. You don't own the app or its content, and the licence ends if you break these terms.
Sharing a phrase you learned with a friend is exactly the point. What's not allowed:
- Copying, scraping, selling or republishing the phrase library, its translations, word meanings, notes or audio.
- Getting around the free plan's limits or the subscription check, or helping others do so.
- Reverse engineering the app, or overloading or attacking our servers.
- Sending reports or requests that are abusive or spam.
The free plan
For your first 3 days, every topic is open with no daily limit. After that, the free plan includes the topic you picked when you started, with 5 new phrases a day, and you can keep refreshing the phrases you've already learned. We may change what the free plan includes, and the app will always show you what's available.
Pro
- What you get: every topic, with no daily limit on new phrases.
- Plans: monthly or yearly. The price is shown in the app, in your currency, before you buy.
- Free trial: the yearly plan may come with a 7-day free trial if you haven't had one before. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly price is charged when it ends.
- Payment and renewal: payment is charged to your Apple or Google account when you confirm. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Cancelling: you can cancel any time in your App Store account settings or in Google Play under Subscriptions. Pro keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- Refunds: Apple and Google handle all payments, so refunds are decided by them under their own policies. We can't issue them ourselves.
- New phone: use "Restore purchases" in Settings, signed in to the same store account.
- Price changes: if the price ever changes, Apple or Google will tell you first, as their rules require.
The phrases and audio
The phrases are everyday Cebu Bisaya, written the way people actually talk and text. A native Bisaya speaker checks each one before it appears in the app. Still, Bisaya varies from place to place and family to family, and mistakes can slip through.
The audio is made with a text-to-speech voice, so now and then a word may not sound quite right. Please report it when that happens.
The app is for learning conversation. Please don't rely on it for medical, legal or official translation.
Reports and requests you send
When you report a phrase or ask for a new one, you let us use what you sent to improve the app's phrases, at no cost to us. Please don't include personal details. We read every one, but we can't promise to add every phrase requested.
Changes to the app
We keep improving the app: adding, changing and sometimes removing phrases and topics. New phrases and audio need an internet connection. We work to keep everything running, but we can't promise the app will always be available or free of errors.
The legal bits
To the extent the law allows, the app is provided "as is", without promises beyond the ones in these terms. Our total responsibility to you for any claim about the app is limited to what you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.
You can stop using the app at any time: delete it, and cancel Pro if you have it. We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms, for example by attacking our servers.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top. Using the app after that means you accept the new version.
