The short version
- You don't need an account. The app never asks for your email or phone number.
- The first time it opens, the app gives your phone a random ID. That ID is how we tell one learner from another. It isn't connected to your name or who you are.
- We collect what we need to run the app and make the phrases better, as listed below. We don't show ads, we don't sell data, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
What stays on your phone
- Your name and your goal. The name you type at the start, and who you want to speak Bisaya with, are kept on your phone only. They are never sent to us.
- Your progress. The phrases you've learned, when each one is due for a refresh, and your streak.
- Downloaded audio and phrases, so they play instantly and work offline.
The app doesn't use your microphone, camera, contacts, photos or location. "Say it out loud" is just for you: nothing listens.
What the app sends us
- The random ID. The app signs in to Google Firebase anonymously, which creates the ID. Everything below is stored with it.
- How you use the app. Small records of things like: the app was opened, a round of phrases was started or finished (and how many you got right), a topic was chosen, the daily limit was reached, the subscription screen was shown, and whether a purchase went through. Each record also carries your app version and whether you're on iPhone or Android. We use these to find where phrases are too hard, where people get stuck, and what to improve. The list of records is fixed in our server code; anything else the app sent would be thrown away.
- Reports and requests you send. If you report a phrase or ask for a new one, we receive the phrase, the reason you picked, anything you type in the note, the topic you were in, your app version and whether you have Pro. A report goes to our Bisaya reviewer's queue, and we get an email about it. Please don't type personal details into a note.
Audio and phrases
The app downloads phrases and their audio from our own server at audio.learntagalogfast.com (it's shared with our Tagalog app). Those requests contain the phrase being played and nothing about you. Like any web server, ours keeps standard logs of requests, including the IP address they came from. Those logs are used only to keep the server running and secure, and are deleted automatically after 14 days.
Purchases
Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google, so we never see your card or your Apple or Google account. RevenueCat receives the store's receipt, linked to your random ID, so the app knows you have Pro and can restore it on a new phone.
Who else handles data for us
- Google Firebase runs our server functions, creates the random ID and stores the records above.
- RevenueCat checks store receipts for subscriptions.
- Brevo delivers the email we get when you report or request a phrase.
- ElevenLabs turns Bisaya phrases into speech. It receives the phrase, not anything about you.
- Apple and Google handle downloads and payments under their own privacy policies.
Each of them processes data only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
Usage records, reports and requests are kept for up to two years and then deleted. Server logs are deleted after 14 days.
Your choices, and deleting your data
- Deleting the app removes everything stored on your phone and stops all collection.
- To have the records tied to your random ID deleted, email support@learnbisayafast.com with your app ID. You'll find it in the app under Settings, "Your app ID": tap it to copy. We'll delete the records within 30 days and tell you when it's done.
- You can also ask us what we hold for your ID, or to correct it, at the same address.
- The app isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
